[Investigating] OIT is receiving reports that some users may have lost connections to their to their servers located in SE-2 040. [Identified] OIT has identified that a piece of failed hardware is causing the issues some users are experiencing in connecting to their SE-2 research servers. We're working on a plan to mitigate the problem and will post again once we have more details.

[Resolved] OIT has identified, tested, and implemented a workaround to the failed hardware that caused connection problems to SE-2 research servers this morning. This workaround will remain in place while we plan to replace the defective hardware on a future date. Users should now be able to access their SE-2 research servers as normal. Description

The Internet2/Clearspan VOIP system will be undergoing maintenance from Thursday, 12/2/21, at 7:00 PM PST until Friday, 12/2/21, at 11:00 PM Pacific Time. Although there is built in redundancy to maintain this service, some VOIP calls may be interrupted for brief periods during this maintenance window. This work is being performed by a national provider. and as such is outside the OIT standard UC maintenance window of 12:00 am through 6:00 am.

During this maintenance window, we can expect 10-minute interruption to some connections. During that interruption, our customers may notice dropped calls and/or the brief inability to initiate new inbound or outbound calls as the service reverts to a different data center.

[Investigating] OIT is investigating reports of issues with campus call centers using VoIP. Users are reporting that incoming callers are unable to hear the person answering the phone. We are working with our vendor to identify the problem. We'll post more information as we have it.

[Resolved] Our VoIP vendor has implemented a workaround that has resolved the issues that we've been experiencing with VoIP phones on campus today. If you were experiencing this problem, your phone should now be functioning as expected. The maintenance window is scheduled from Tuesday, 11/30/21, at 11:00 PM EST until Wednesday, 12/1/21, at 3:00 AM EST. During this maintenance window, they expect 10-minute interruption to some connections. During that interruption, our customers may notice dropped calls and/or the brief inability to initiate new inbound or outbound calls as the service reverts to a different data center.
